Enrolment

Norwood is a school of choice within our community with a maximum agreed enrolment of 1100 students. Our Designated Neighbourhood Boundary indicates the area from which families can expect that their child may enrol. Whilst enrolments may be taken from outside the zone, there is no guaranteed place for students.

Our school zone

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.

Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school. Your school zone is determined based on your permanent residential address.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their local school. Students may enrol at another school if there are available places.

  • For more information about our school zone, please contact our school at 9871 0400.

Year 7 enrolments

All Victorian government secondary schools follow the statewide Year 6 to 7 placement timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child at a Victorian government secondary school.

Applications for Year 7 open from Monday 20 April 2026.

Victorian government primary schools manage the Year 7 placement process for their Year 6 students in accordance with the timeline. At the start of Term 2, primary schools will distribute information packs to parents and carers.

 What you need to do:

  1. Download the Year 6 to 7 Placement Information pack from Moving from primary to secondary school (available from Monday 20 April 2026). The pack includes guidance on the application process.
  2. Submit an enrolment application by Friday 8 May 2026.
    • If your child attends a government primary school, all communication about your child’s placement must be with the Year 6 Coordinator or Transition Coordinator at your child’s primary school until a placement is offered.
    • If your child is home schooled or attends a non-government primary school, you may submit the application form directly to our school by Friday 8 May 2026.
  3. You will receive notification of your child’s Year 7 placement offer on Wednesday 24 June 2026.

Enrolment applications submitted after Friday 8 May 2026 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Enrolment Policy.

You can find more information about applying for Year 7 placement at Moving from primary to secondary school.

Other year level enrolments

We also accept enrolment applications for students in other year levels. You can submit a request at any time in the school year. Eligible students who live within our school zone are guaranteed a place, while students outside the zone may be enrolled if there are available places.

If you are seeking enrolment at any other year levels, please contact our school for more information.

Please note: Our school has an enrolment restriction under section 2.2.16 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic). Our school will prioritise enrolments from:

  • students who live within the school zone
  • students with a sibling attending the school at the same time
  • students seeking enrolment on compassionate grounds, in exceptional circumstances.

Depending on available places remaining, our school may be able to accept a limited number of out-of-zone enrolments according to next closest to the school.

The department will review this enrolment restriction yearly and provide updated advice as necessary.
