Health & PE

Objectives

  • To promote and educate students about the value of sport and physical activity.
  • To encourage students to adopt healthy life long behaviours.
  • To help students strive to be the best person they can be.

Junior School Curriculum

In the Junior levels, Health and Physical Education studies are core subjects. Students develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to strengthen their sense of self and build and manage satisfying relationships. We aim to help students be resilient and to make decisions and take actions to promote their health, safety and participation in physical activity. Studies emphasise how movement, in all its forms, is central to daily life. They also develop health literacy to enable students to understand and use health information/services to promote and maintain their health and wellbeing.

Senior School Curriculum

In the Senior levels, various electives are available. At Year 10, we offer ‘Sport and Physical Performance’ and ‘Health Matters’. These electives give students an introduction to various concepts covered in the VCE subjects although they are not prerequisites. At VCE, students can chose ‘Health and Human Development’ (which focuses on youth and health issues, growth from childhood into adulthood) or ‘Physical Education’ (including how the body functions, contemporary issues, monitoring and enhancing performance).
